He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Hawley Bass; his sons, James Bass III (Mechell) of Oxford, NC and Cedric Bass (Christie) of Creedmoor, NC; his grandsons, Christopher Bass and Brandon Bass; and his sisters, Brenda Bass of Durham, NC and Amelia Owens (Rodney) of Durham, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
