He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin M. Ashby and Bernice Clayton Ashby; and his siblings, Burley T. Ashby, Ricky M. Ashby, Annie Mae Ashby and Joe Dale Ashby.
He is survived by: his wife Nita Mooney Ashby; his children, Anitra Ashby Riggan of Rougemont, Chad Ashby of Rougemont and Eric Frazier of Rougemont; his sisters, Brenda Gentry (Mark) of Roxboro and Beverly Frazier of Roxboro; and his grandchildren, Gabrielle Riggan, Lexie Ashby, Ariel Riggan, Isabella Riggan, Logan Ashby, Lily Ashby, Brooklyn Smelser, Alayna Frazier and Kyzer Frazier.
