He is survived by: his wife Margaret Smith; his children, Lacosta Hammon (Thomas) of Smithfield and Waylon Smith of Roseboro; his sister Gail Corcelius (Gerald) of Bladenboro; his brother-in-law Bobby Parnell of Bladenboro; his pet Teddie Roosevelt; and his hog Cleopatra. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
