He was predeceased by: his parents, Miles C Simmons and Jathronia Holland Simmons; his wife Annie Reese Tyndall Simmons; and his siblings, Jeline Simmons Royal, Jimmy Simmons and Ray Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Jewel Simmons Mathias of Ocoee, Florida and Oscar Wade (Teresa Simmons) of Roseboro; and his grandchildren, Walt Mathias, Reann Fitzpatrick, Travis Mathias, Lisa Simmons Smith and Austin Simmons. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
