She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas V. Matthews, Jr.; and her sisters, Doris Hall Cashwell, Ruth Hall Raymes, Jewel Hall Smith and Genevieve Hall.

She is survived by: her son Neal Shawn Matthews (Suzi Matthews); and her grandchildren, Shawn and Melina Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Roseboro First Baptist Church.
