He is survived by: his children, Rayner Ronald Matthews of Riverside, CA, Darnerien Richard McCants (Roshunda) of Ashburn, VA, James Albert Matthews of Boston, Mass, David Joshua Matthews (Mylea) of Bossier, LA and Darlene Reana Matthews of Herndon; his grandchildren, Maya Matthews of Boston, Williams of Herndon and Phoenix Williams of Herndon; his close friend Charlene Ballard of Roper, NC; and his siblings, James Matthews, Joshua Matthews (Sylvia), Jacqueline M. Jones, Roslyn R. Jones (Calvin) of Baltimore, MD and Reta M. Stewart of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
