She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Vanhorn and Penny Sexton Vanhorn; her husband Julian Calvin Basnight; her son Larry Elwood Rose; and her sisters, Gerlean Owens, Patsy Schultz, Beulah Sharlow, Barbara Swain and Faye Weathersbee.
She is survived by: her children, Janice Rose Ross of Elizabeth City, NC, Lewis Wayne Rose (Karen) of Roper, NC and Michael Calvin Basnight of Elizabeth City, NC; her sister Florence Hassell of New Bern, NC; her grandchildren, Robert Curnutte, Patrick Rose and Krista Bladen; her great grandchildren, David, Brittney, Matthew and Shelby; and her great great grandchildren, Bryson and Peyton.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cherry Church of God (2385 Cherry Rd, Creswell, NC 27928). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
