It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harold Belle Phelps (Roper, North Carolina), born in Washington, North Carolina, who passed away on April 26, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Ruby Phelps Hassell; his grandparents, James Phelps and Sarah Phelps; his brothers, Jack Hassell, Wayne Hassell and Ronnie Hassell; his wife Maxine Woodley Phelps of Roper, NC; his children, Gayle Phelps Spruill (Jimmy) of Roper, NC, Debbie Phelps of Grifton, NC and Harold Gary Phelps (Diane) of Roper, NC; and his siblings, Laquita H. Peed of Plymouth, NC, Gloria H. Tarkenton of Durham, NC, Sarah H. Reynolds of Roper, NC, Carolyn H. Caton of Roper, NC, Jim Hassell of Pensacola, FL and Glenn Hassell of Pensacola, FL. He was also cherished by four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
