He was predeceased by: his brother Johnny Gay of Atlanta, GA; and his niece Pamela Holmes of Connecticut. He is survived by: his wife Faye; his children, Lisa Atkinson (Tommy) and Monty Gay (Karen); his grandchildren, Ashley Ray (Hunter) of Wake Forest, Emily Pulley of Wake Forest, Josh Gay of Wake Forest and Jonathan Gay of Wake Forest; his sister Geraldine Fleming (Mutt) of Grifton, N. C.; his sister-in-law Sue Gay of Atlanta, GA; his nieces, Tiffany Rountree (Chip), Gina Rothchild (Peter) and Jessica Synder (Vern); and his nephew Geoffrey Gay (Lisa).
