She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam A. Bell and Josephine Hyde Bell; her brother Lee Bell; her sons, Paul and Brian Matthews; and her grandson Eric Hoyle.
She is survived by: her husband Gerald Matthews; her daughter Aleta Hoyle (Carroll); her grandchildren, Jason Hoyle (Jessica) and Caroline Thomas; her great grandchildren, Noah and Michaela; her sister Daisy Welch; her aunt Artie Hamm; and her sister-in-law Collette Naso. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rolesville Baptist Church.
