He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Mitchell and Vera Mitchell; and his siblings, Faye Doby, Annie Grey Richards, Louise Coffey and Neal Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Marshall Mitchell; his children, Karen Parker of Wake Forest and Steven Mitchell (Jenny) of Raleigh; and his granddaughter Brittany Yardley (Justin) of Raleigh.
