She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman B. Spencer and Flora Burrus Spencer of Ocracoke, NC.; her sister Gaynelle Tillett; and her great grandchild Tilman Gray III. She is survived by: her children, Brent Midgett (Elaine), Bertha Midgett, Bruce Midgett (Jade), Bonnie Gray (Tilman), Rebecca Thomas (Jeff) and Wilhelmina Grubbs (Larry); and her nephew Rickey Tillett. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Additionally, she spread love throughout the Outer Banks with countless donations of baby quilts to expecting mothers.
