It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Susan Barnhill of Rocky Point, North Carolina, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on August 18, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert James Grossnickle and Mabel Alger Grossnickle; and her siblings, Betty Helen Vincent, Frances Nixon, Jane M. Guptil, James Robert Grossnickle and Harold Neil Grossnickle.
She is survived by: her husband John D. Barnhill; her children, Susan E. Barnhill (Tim), Katherine Barnhill Weaver (Hobie) and John D. Barnhill, Jr.; her grandchildren, Kristin Knowles, Christopher Barnhill (Heather), John Taylor Laney (Rebecca), Haleigh Weaver, Cori Horton and Michael Horton; her great grandchildren, Landon Burgamey, Cayden Barnhill, Hendrix Hanes, Kyler Barnhill, John Wyatt Barnhill and Kayden Carty; and her brother Paul Edwin Grossnickle. She is also survived by many extended family and friends.
