It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Yates of Rocky Point, North Carolina, who passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy John leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bertis Yates Sr. and Myrtle Berrier; and his wife Rebecca Harrell Yates of Burgaw. He is survived by: his children, Laura Hansen (Chris) of Surf City and John Yates Jr. (Cady) of Rocky Point; his grandchildren, Jacob Scott, Graham Yates and Emmie Yates; and his siblings, Bert Yates (Jovie) of Greensboro and Elaine English of Wallace.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Harrell's Funeral Home (212 S Dickerson St, Burgaw, NC 28425).
