We are sad to announce that on November 6, 2023, at the age of 75, Emmett James Highsmith of Rocky Point, North Carolina, born in Wilmington, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Hanson Highsmith and Doris Dawson Highsmith; his wife Diane Highsmith; his daughter Joy Whitley; his brother Joey Highsmith; his children, Mandy Baker (Austin) and James Sidney Highsmith (Connie); his significant other Gail West; his grandchildren, Latitia Joseph, Sabrena Mathews, Logan Whitley, Miranda Baker and Sidney Highsmith; his brother David Andrew Highsmith; and his friend Joe Moody (Wayne Ashe).
