He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Carlson and Florence Carlson; his sister Florence Moruss; and his nephew Roy Moruss. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Weidler Carlson; his daughters, Traci Smith (David) and Marilyn Blair (Terrence); his grandchildren, Jared, Michael, Jacob and Danielle; and his great grandchildren, Michael Jr., Sean and Adi.
