He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Griffin and Sallie Forbes Griffin; his wife Bessie "Lou" Griffin; his son Clyde Griffin; and his siblings, John Stokes Griffin and Willie Sue Tripp.
He is survived by: his children, Glen Griffin of Rocky Mount, Barbara Ann Peaden (Bruce) of Tarboro and Mike Griffin (Stephanie) of Rocky Mount; his sister Marie Matthews of Wilson; his sisters-in-law, Diane Scott and Brenda Jefferson; and his grandchildren, Cameron Griffin (Beth), Kenneth Wooten (April), Heath Wooten (Nikki), Don Wooten, Rebecca Modlin (Geo), Victoria Griffin (Harley) and Michael Shane Griffin (Nova). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
