He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Dawes Joyner and Della Mae Lindsey Joyner; his wife Arlene E Joyner; and his siblings, Thelma Langley, Senora Hayes, Ora Aycock, Odessa Woodcock, Christine Morris, Lois Taylor, Lousie Williams, Oliver "Cub" Joyner, Carl Lee Joyner and Junior Joyner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mitzi J Koontz (Ted) of High Point, NC and Regina J Popelars (Mike) of Williamsburg, VA.; his grandchildren, Mya Koontz, Zoe and Eli Popelars; and his sister Effie Cooley of Rocky Mount.
