With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marie Pate Cockrell (Rocky Mount, North Carolina), who passed away on January 17, 2024 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Stephen Author Pate and Gladys Worley Pate; her husband Elbert Henry Cockrell, Sr.; and her sons, Elbert Henry Cockrell, Jr., Willie Haywood Cockrell, David Wayne Cockrell and John Randolph Cockrell.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Paul Cockrell (Sue) of Elm City, Bobby Sherrill Cockrell (Jean) of Wendell and Joanne Keen of Dortches; her grandchildren, Kimberly Domonkos (Steve), Michelle Pierce, Shannon Keen, Randi Holland (Brandon), Amy Woodard (Kevin), Kelsey Cockrell, Rachel Cockrell and Davis Cockrell (Taylor); and her sister Brenda Mitchell (Woodrow). She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
