He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Davis Mott and Katherine Ward Mott; and his sister Frances Davis. He is survived by: his children, Patrick Mott (Katrina) of Rocky Mount, Kristina Mott of Rocky Mount, Heather Mott of Nashville, Crystal Mott of Rocky Mount, Brandy Mott of Rocky Mount and Tyler Mott of Nashville; and his siblings, Betty Mott, Doris Smith (Phil), Linda Pollard, Mary Lewis (Dean), David Mott (Brenda) and Lee Mott (Brenda). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
