He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Earl Batts and Drucilla Turner Batts; and his brother Michael Batts. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Batts; his children, Christopher Batts (Darlene) of Rocky Mount, Nicholas Batts (Kandice) of Rocky Mount, Lisa Sigurdson (Brian) of Wilson and Suzanne Anderson (Dylan) of Tarboro; his grandchildren, Rebecca Jones (Linwood), Aaron Gamble, Jessie Batts, Nicholas Batts, Kayleigh Kantorowski, Brianna Sigurdson, Taylor Sigurdson, Jase Sigurdson, Caleb Anderson and Daniel Anderson; his great grandchildren, Karsyn Clanton, Nylah Jones and Tobias Gamble; his siblings, Tony Batts and Brenda Boone (Burt); his brothers-in-law, David Walker (Terry), Johnnie Owens (Blinda) and Gregg Owens (Janice); and his close friends, Dennis Harrell and Fred Bailey.
