He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Russell Joyner and Daisy Cockrell Joyner; and his siblings, Harold, Bill, Lester, Frank Joyner, Nettie Mae Batchelor, Dorothy Joyner, Ruth Crisp Brown and Lorine Batchelor.
He is survived by: his sister Lynette Cockrell of Rocky Mount; and his siblings-in-law, Edith Joyner Philips of Rocky Mount, Doris Israel Joyner of Rocky Mount and Bruce Batchelor of Tarboro. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
