Jean Carpenter Cockrell Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jean Carpenter Cockrell (Rocky Mount, North Carolina), who passed away on April 8, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Buck B. Carpenter and Mamie Langley Carpenter; her husband Gene Darwin Cockrell; her son Gene Darwin Cockrell, Jr.; and her brothers, Buck Carpenter, Jr., Marvin Carpenter and Thurman Carpenter.
She is survived by: her daughter Tina Mayo (Charlie) of Battleboro; her grandchildren, Madison Mayo, McKenize Mayo, Chandler Cockrell and Molly Cockrell; and her siblings-in-law, Spencer Cockrell (BJ), Ricky Cockrell (Pam) and Donna Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home (1130 N Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27804). Visitation was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home (1130 N Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27804).
