It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Finnie Cherry Jr. (Rocky Mount, North Carolina), who passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Finnie Cherry and Mildred Lucas Cherry; his wife Joyce Whitehurst Cherry; his sister Debra Proctor; and his stepdaughter Tammy Caudell.
He is survived by: his son Finnie "Tal" Cherry, III (Regina) of Tarboro; his stepdaughter Linda Barfield (Lee) of Macclesfield; his sisters, Linda Pulliam (Deemus) of Greensboro, Ruby Wood (Jimmy) of Elm City and Priscilla Cherry Winchester (Larry) of Tarboro; his brother-in-law Wayne Proctor of Elm City; his friend Ronnie Wilson; his grandchildren, Christopher Medford, Cody Cherry, Ethan Cherry, Kimberly Joyner, Chris Joyner, Tyler Barfield and Ashley Rose; and his great grandchildren, Dominic Medford, Lilyana Harts, Bria, Jakoby and Kailey Pettaway. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
