He is survived by: his wife Ruth Lee Short; his children, Dennis Ray Battle of Rocky Mount, NC, Patricia Bowden of Valdosta, GA, Toni Faison of Upper Marlboro, MD, Charlotte Short of Brooklyn, NY and Theresa Johnson of Rocky Mount, NC; and his brothers, Cullen Short of Rocky Mount, NC, Carl Short of Rocky Mount, NC and Gerald Short of Tarboro, NC. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and a host other loving relatives and friends.
