He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Speight" Hinton and Faye McMichael Hinton; and his mother-in-law Juliette C. Howard. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Hinton; his children, Dawn B. Lee (Jason) and Phillip W. Briley Jr. (Kristy); his brother Norman Bruce Hinton; his aunt Florence Horton; his caregivers, Janette Moody, Kimberly LaPointe (Chrissy) and Brenda J. Howard; his grandchildren, Tyde Lee, Annabeth, Everleigh and Phillip Briley III; and his caregivers, Micalea Claiborne, Sylvia Walls Tippett, Robert Claiborne (family: Barbara, Kirby Dupree), Tim, Nancy Harvey, Richard, Pat Tolson and Suzette Wilson.
