He was predeceased by: his father Roy "Jack" Goodman; and his siblings, Ben Goodman and Nell Bryant. He is survived by: his brother Gwynn Goodman; his children, Billy Ray Goodman (Vickie) of Salisbury, Terry Goodman (Sandra) of Rockwell and Lu Ann Putnam (Brian) of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Dillon Goodman (Melissa) of Texas, Chelsea Williams (Blake) of Oakboro, Kristin Miller of Rockwell, Addie Blair (Ryan) of Jacksonville, Madison Putnam of Salisbury, Brittany Goodman (Scott) of Hampstead and Lauren Goodman Dwyer (Tyler) of Hampstead; and his great grandchildren, Judah Miller of Rockwell, Carly Cassels of Oakboro and Harrison Goodman of Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Novant Health Hospice or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Jim's honor.
