He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Bateman and Alice Brown Bateman. He is survived by: his wife Ann Hayes Bateman; his sons, Bobby Bateman (Janet) and Mark Bateman (Jennifer); his granddaughters, Lindsey Bateman, Meredith Bateman and Hannah Bateman; his brother Wayne Bateman; his pet Emma; and his friend Anne. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
