With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Peggy Ann Horne Hughes (Rockingham, North Carolina), who passed away on June 17, 2023 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Burt Horne and Cora Cassidy Horne (James "Jimmy" Walter); her stepchildren, Jean Carol Hughes and James "Bubba" Walter Hughes, III (Julie) of Mt. Gilead, NC; and her siblings, Dock, Floyd Horne, Bobbie McAston and Ruby Benoist.
She is survived by: her daughter Cindy Sheppard Harrel of Ozark, MO; her stepdaughters, Joy Hughes Norton Horton of McColl, SC and Cathy Allen of Rockingham, NC; her grandchildren, Angie, Jill, Tiffanie, Chantal and Steven; and her sister Doris White (Dutchess) of Hamlet, NC. She is also survived by 7 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the Stanley County Humane Society or Plant a Tree.
