He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Tew Johnson; his children, Paul Johnson, Jr. (Amy) and Kimberly DeFronzo; his grandchildren, Heather Madden, Piper Johnson and Sullivan Johnson; his brother Roger Johnson; his stepchildren, Jess Currie, III (Marcie), Amy Hildreth (Sean) and Joseph Currie (Annie); his stepgrandchildren, Nathan Hildreth (Sarah), Jessica Bowers (Justin) and Brittany Currie; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Aliya Bowers, Josie Hildreth, River Hildreth and Kenley Gulledge. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
