She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Sheppard and Maggie Ward Lewis Carter; her husband Nash Jenkins; her former husband George Rising; her sisters, Barbara Sanders and Shirley Garrett; her daughter Brenda Jenkins Baxley; and her grandson Johnny C. Jenkins Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Judy Jenkins Belder of Fayetteville, Kenneth Jenkins, Aubrey Jenkins of Rockingham, Billy Jenkins and Johnny Jenkins (Sandra) of Lumberton; her siblings, Linda Lewis of Laurel Hill, Harold Jerry Lewis of Bennettsville, S. C., David Lewis of Oak Island, Dwight Lewis (Melanie) of New Bern and Roger Lewis of Laurel Hill; her son-in-law Patrick Baxley; and her close friend Mary Alice Butler. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and a slew of nieces and nephews and friends.
