He was predeceased by: his parents, W. T. Ussery and Flora Ussery; and his stepson Brannon Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Carol Ussery; his children, Brynn Gamble and Jamie Hancock; his stepson Glenn Taylor; his grandchildren, Kayla Hill, Kenzie Roberts, Blake Gamble, Owen Taylor, Tanner Taylor and Brannon Taylor; his great grandchildren, Jordan Hill and Jocelyn Hill; and his siblings, Martha Ussery Brigman, William Thomas "Pete" Ussery, Robert Lee "Pistol" Ussery, Phyllis Graham, Joseph Charles "Joe" Ussery, Edward Lewis "Ed" Ussery, John Michael "Mike" Ussery, Nancy Ussery Newsom and Henry Lynn "Bo" Ussery.
