He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Solomon Gentry and Isabell Gentry (Smith); his children, Martha "Jan" McRacken (Gentry) and Roger Solomon Gentry, Jr.; his siblings, Jan McRacken and Rog Gentry, Jr.; and his son Carl Gentry, Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Elaine Medlin (Gentry); his wife Ava Gentry (Altman); his daughter Amy Somers (JK Somers); his grandson Evan Greene; his daughter-in-law Maria Gentry; his granddaughters, Marisa Gentry, Lucy Gentry and Carleigh Gentry; his sister Elaine Medlin; his aunt Peggy Edenton; and his pet Bella. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces, and cousins.
