It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mattie Leggett of Robersonville, North Carolina, who passed away on February 25, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Guthrie Kader Strawbridge and Blanche Allsbrook Strawbridge; her husbands, Noah Leggett and David R. "Mickey" Gurganus; and her siblings, Alfred, James, Willie, Guthrie Strawbridge, Jennie Whitfield, Daisy Spain and Leola Ward.
She is survived by: her children, Glynn Rollins of Roanoke Rapids, Michael Rollins of Chocowinity, Kathryn Godley of Williamston and Susan Gurganus of Robersonville; her siblings, Ike Strawbridge of New Bern and Margaret Sochia of East Douglas, MA.; and her close friends, Gaynelle Mills and Laura Brown. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
