He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Shope and Willa Bell Moore Shope; his son Sidney Joe Polston; and his half-brothers, David Shope, Tim Shope and Kenneth Shope.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Crisp Shope; his son Brian Crisp of Robbisnville, NC; his siblings, Libby Sellers of Robbinsville, NC, Paul (Linda Shope) and Daniel (Amy Byrd Shope); and his grandchildren, Austin and Daxton Crisp.
