He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Jr. Patterson and Ruby Woodard Patterson; and his grandparents, Ed Sr., Belle Patterson, Fred and Cora Woodard.
He is survived by: his wife Shannon Patterson; his children, Dr. Jonathan Patterson (DeAnna) of Harrisburg, NC and Monica Baron; his siblings, Jim Patterson (Margaret) of Hayesville, NC, Beth Waldroup (Steve Waldroup) of Lincoln City and Ann Waldroup (Joe Waldroup) of Hayesville, NC.; and his grandchildren, Roger Maxwell Baron, Charlie Baron, Martin Ledford, Carter Ledford, Jayson Patterson, Rui-Ray Patterson, JJ Patterson and Adley Grace Patterson.
Due to the risk of exposure to COVID 19, it is requested that those attending the Robbinsville, NC service who are unvaccinated wear facial coverings and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
