Dorothy Blackburn Smith Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy Blackburn Smith of Roaring River, North Carolina, who passed away on January 10, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dock Blackburn and Docia Harrold Blackburn; her husband J. W. Smith; and her sisters, Wilma Holbrook (Everette) and Ilene Stone (James).
She is survived by: her children, Ann Murphy (J. R.) of North Wilkesboro, Naomi Greene (John) of McGrady, Rachel Grit (Jeff) of Roaring River, Doris Coggin (Bill) of Roaring River, Stephen Smith (Phyllis) of North Wilkesboro and Dwight Smith of Roaring River; her grandchildren, Robby Smith, Phillip Smith, Stephanie Smith, Kristie Uphoff, Jodi McCurdy, Bradley Smith, Kaitlyn Murphy, Jeremiah Greene, Amanda Greene, Nathan Greene, Heather Pardue, Jaclyn Minton and Taylor Coggin; and her brother Buford Blackburn (Mary) of Wilkesboro. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the New Light #1 Baptist Church (193 New Light Church Rd, Roaring River, NC 28669). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at the New Light Baptist Church (193 New Light Church Rd, Roaring River, NC 28669).
