He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Garner and Burla Warren Garner; his wife Shirley R. Garner; his siblings, Clifton R. "Doodie" Garner and Hazel "Polly" Hastings (Bobby); and his brother-in-law Carlton "Pete" Nethercutt.
He is survived by: his children, Brad Phillips (Kenna) of Swansboro, NC, Debbie Peel (Collin) of Emerald Isle, NC and Belinda Davis of Roanoke Rapids, NC.; his grandchildren, Matt Phillips (Karlla) of Raleigh, NC, Megan Farmer of Wilson, NC, Kendra Longworth (Joshua) of Maryville, TN, Tonya Forrest (Ashley) of Morehead City, NC, Sarah Hanley (Kolby) of Alpharetta, GA, Rett Peel (Christy Santacana) of Raleigh, NC, Cameron Peel (Taylor) of Roanoke, VA, Zach Davis of Denver, CO, Ann-Windsor Davis (William Bott) and DJ Taylor of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and his siblings, James "Jimmy" Garner (Peggy) and Margie Nethercutt of Roanoke Rapids. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
