He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Randolph Carter and Hariett Carter; and his siblings, Edward Carter, Louise Conwell, Hazel Spires, Shirley Fox and Tommy Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Hunsucker Carter; his children, Shelia Love of Roanoke Rapids and Ricky Carter (Dale) of Whitakers; and his grandchildren, Lindsey Parsley, Stephen Love and Troy Carter. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
