He was predeceased by: his parents, James Russell and Nellie Reese Johnston; and his siblings, Joe, Freddie, Willie, George, Wayne, Wade and Judy.
He is survived by: his siblings, W. G., Wesley, Michael, Eddie, Mary Wynn, Ella Lassiter, Ann Murphy and Marie Bailey; his stepdaughter Nicole Edmondson; and his granddaughter Brittany Matthews.
