He is survived by: his mother Nancy Evans; his wife Penny Smith Jones; his children, Jonathan Simmons (Morgan) of Nashville, NC and Amber Newell (Eddie) of Winterville, NC; his sister Karen J. Jean (George) of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Ashton Simmons and Lacey Simmons; and his close friends, Danette Love, Robie Poythress, Wanda Carter, William Shawm R and Piper. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
