He was predeceased by: his father James Walter Sawyer, Sr.; and his siblings, Margaret Talmage, Virgie Sawyer, Robert Sawyer, Jack Sawyer and Thomas Sawyer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Sawyer; his sons, Ricky Sawyer (Patricia) of Drewville, VA and Jeffery Lynn Sawyer (Fannie) of Milwakee, NC; his sister Alice Pierce of Fl; his grandchildren, Brandi Wright (Benny), Hunter Shelton, Ryan Shelton, Chloe Sawyer, Tiffany Dalzell (Brendan), Kimberly Buckner (Ben) and Eric Sawyer (Bridgette); and his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Savanna Wright, Senae McNeil, Aleigha, Jacob Dalzell, Caleb Ivey, Krislyn Velvin, Bryson, Garhett, Charlie Buckner, Brooklynn and Kohlton Sawyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
