He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry and Burdette; his former wife Judith Faith Johnson; his son James "Eddie" Johnson; and his brothers, Fred Herring and Robert Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Johnson; his daughter Dee Barnes (Jerry) of Littleton; his daughter-in-law Kathy Johnson of Littleton; his grandsons, Collin Barnes (Dakota) of Littleton and Cody Barnes (Jenny) of Belleville, IL; his great grandchildren, Emily and Silas; his stepchildren, Donna, Sandy and Carl; his sisters, Lois Keeter of Roanoke Rapids, Laura Steele and Tenny Edwards (Jimmy) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and also, Marie Thomason, Rocky Hobbs (Nancy), Ethel Revells and Stan Pittman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
