He was predeceased by: his parents, Norwood Hampton Wells and Lois Etheridge Wells; his wife Kathy Wells; his siblings, Linda Griffin, Jerry Wells and Carlton Wells; and his grandson Thomas Wells.
He is survived by: his children, LaDonna Wade (Brad) of Roanoke Rapids, Beth Batten (Gary) of Roanoke Rapids and Brian Wells (Leslie) of Archdale; his grandchildren, Brook Kirby (CG), Taylor Salmon (Cameron), Rylie, Kylie, Skyler "Peanut", Sofie Wade, Brandon Coker (Erica), Austyn, A. J. Batten, Wesley, Will and Watson Wells; his siblings, Shirley Tidwell of Roanoke Rapids and Hugh Wells (Connie) of Jackson; and his sisters-in-law, Anne Wells of Roanoke Rapids and Angela Wells of Roanoke Rapids. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
