He was predeceased by: his parents, John I. Boswell and Mazie Butterworth Boswell; his wife Patsy Hundley Boswell; and his siblings, John I. Boswell and Mary Boswell Furr.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Boswell Gilmer (Kerry) of Ivy, VA and David Boswell (Jennifer) of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Zachary Gilmer (Hattie Carter), Luke Gilmer (Shania) and Cora Homan; and his sister Elizabeth "Lib" Lackey of South Hill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
