He was predeceased by: his parents, George Halley Clay and Edna Earle Thompson Clay; and his siblings, Joseph Clay, Sidney Clay, Louise Clay Henry and Dorothy Clay Joyner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Dixon (Jimmy) of Chocowinity, NC and Carol Dildy of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Kyle Barnes (Amanda) of Washington, NC and Brandon Dixon (Megan) of Greenville, NC; his great grandchildren, Ella Blake Barnes and Graham Barnes; and his siblings, Nancy Clay Davis (Donald) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Thomas Clay (Rita) of Roanoke Rapids, NC.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
