He is survived by: his pet Charles; his wife Shirley Harding-Tant; his son Charles Edward Tant Jr. (Shannon); his grandchildren, Mary Grace and Andrew Sullivan Nofsinger of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his son Jeffery Alton Tant (Judy); his grandchildren, Colby Jefferson and Ava Juliet Tant of Greenville, NC; his son George W. Harding III (Emily); his granddaughter Vivian Estelle Harding of Carolina Beach, NC; his child Ashley Harding Sapp (Corbin); his granddaughter Betsy; and his siblings, Betty Grace Lewis of Rocky Mount, NC, Barbara Hagans of Wilson, NC and Lemuel Tant of Elm City, NC.. He is also survived by dogs and cats.
Entombment will following at Cedarwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles's memory to All Saints Episcopal Church or to Rainbow Animal Rescue, 54 Dog Pound Rd., Halifax, NC 27839.
