She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Newsome and Martha Johnson Newsome Turner; her siblings, Ronnie Leon Newsome, Mary Gail Newsome Hinton and Phyllis Turner Marshall; her uncle John Johnson, Jr. (Shirley Johnson); and her aunt Mittie Moore.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin Travis of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Sabrena Dewberry of Raleigh, NC, Ronnie Leon Newsome (Terry) of Pleasant Hill, NC and Douglas Elijah Travis of Rocky Mount, NC; her grandchildren, Tyler Hunt of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Saquan Boyd of Littleton, NC; and her siblings, Nellie Newsom, Bobby Newsome of Raleigh, NC, Lindsey Turner (Ninoska) of Atlanta, GA and Willie Turner, Jr. (Bridgette) of Roanoke Rapids, NC. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the H. D. Pope Funeral Home (520 Smith Church Rd, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Gaston Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery (962 NC-46, Gaston, NC 27832).
