With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Avery Byrd of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 22, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rastus Frank Avery and Alene Marie Fields Avery; her husband Wayman Byrd; her son Jerome Lee Byrd; and her sisters, Kellon Decaro, Shirley Odom and Nancy Capps.
She is survived by: her daughter Teresa Byrd Harris; her grandchildren, Kellon Michelle Harris and Wendy Jean May; her great grandchildren, Tayor Scott Harris and Brittney Aliece Whitby (Trey); her great great grandchild Daylan James Whitby; and her sisters, Frankie Avery Allison (Doug) of Clayton, NC and Phyllis Rogers (Carl) of Greensboro, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
