He is survived by: his parent John Dewey Ellis, Sr.; his children, Johnny Ellis (Joyce) of Riegelwood, Bobby Ray Ellis (Roxanna), Rosa E. Atwood (Frank) and Margaret E. Carroll; his sister Lillie Mae Ellis Hinson of Chadbourn; his grandchildren, Allen Wayne Coston, Chris Coston, Bobby Ray Ellis, Jr., Timothy Ellis, Donna Potter, Kandi Padgett, Brysen Padgett and Amanda Lange; and his great grandchildren, Zachary, Cassidy, Sydney, Emma, Katie, Summer, Carey, Trey, Hanna, Emily, Alex and Samantha.
